The fishing nursery theme is one of my favorites to work with.  With this theme you can incorporate many used and loved objects.  Do you have any old fishing rods or tackle laying around?  Two rods crossing each other on a wall can be a focal point or an object of use.  The fishing rod can be used for hanging photos on, clothes or other various pictures.

If you don’t have these items, they can usually be picked up at a flea market, antique shop or rummage sale quite cheaply.   Look for the ones that aren’t in working order as they will be marked lower than others but will still work for whatever decoration you like to use them in.  A fish net can be used to store toys, stuffed animals, etc.  Let your imagination run wild as alot can  be done with older items.

With the fishing nursery theme your bedding can be many things.  Bedding with fish on them, plaids, stripes or any color you choose.

So much can be done with a can of paint when it comes to that baby nursery theme!  You can create a theme with color,  it doesn’t always have to be a character, animal or object.  Children love bright colors and alot of times you can find these colors on sale at your local paint stores.  You don’t have to be a Rembrandt to create those fun walls.  They can be created with dots, stripes,  or abstract designs.  Also when choosing your paint, remember to use soothing colors which can help with your baby’s sleep.

The internet is a great tool and you’ll be able to find all kinds of great ideas and options on the web. Be sure to not only look for beautiful themes you like, but check into safety guidelines as well for choosing baby bedding and furniture for the nursery.

Step #3 – Check Out the Baby Sections – If you are in a department store or a mall, take some time to check out the baby sections. Many larger stores have a great section for babies and you’ll find great ideas that will help spur your creativity. Not only will you find some great ideas for the baby nursery theme, but you may find some great deals on baby items too.

Step #4 – Decorate According to Gender – When you are choosing the theme for the baby nursery, it may be a good idea to decide based on the gender when it comes to baby nursery decoration. Once you know whether your baby is a boy or a girl, it makes it easier to come up with the theme. However, if you want the baby’s gender to be a surprise, just go with a theme that will be nice for a baby boy or a baby girl.

Step #5 – Start with the Bedding – Last of all, when you are coming up with the baby nursery theme, it’s a good idea to start out by choosing the baby nursery bedding. Many times the bedding has a theme and you can follow that theme through the rest of the nursery. The bedding you choose is important for comfort and safety. So, once you find bedding you really like, consider basing the theme for the nursery around that bedding.

2.  Take one color out of your base item and use that color for painting your walls.  You can use one, two or three shades of the color.

3.  Choose fun accent pieces to go with your theme.  Get different.  If your theme is cowboys perhaps use an old stirrup as a towel holder.  You can find these at most thrift or antique stores.

4.  Choose the color of the carpet or rug to tie in with your theme.  Perhaps blue is you are using a Noah’s Ark theme.

5.  Use every corner of the room.  Utilize it by putting in corner shelves,  pillows or a toy box.

6.  Add a wall mirror and chest to hold dress up costumes.

7.  Add a small table for the child to play on.  It will get used for many things-a tea party, block building or finger painting.

8.  Put a box close to table to be used for art supplies.

9.  Add a chalkboard or magnetic board.  So many books available have magnetic pictures to remove and a board to put them

on will provide hours of enjoyment.

10.  Always remember safety no matter how cute you want your child’s room.  Secure dressers and large furniture to the walls.  Children love to

climb and securing these items will prevent future accidents.

Start with a budget. The best way to start is to know how much money you can afford. This will be the foundation on everything you will have to consider. Allot a certain amount of that budget for specific items such as furniture and baby nursery decorations.

Then plan and create a theme. Nowadays, there are lots of themes to choose from. The animated characters have evolved since the old days. There are superheroes, adorable animal groups and many others. These can be provided by wallpapers that are already printed with colorful character designs. However, if you prefer to maintain a low profile in your nursery, painting it with more calming and neutral colors would suffice, with some few accents like designed boarders. In this way, there is a lot you can still improve on the room as your taste and imagination may flourish together with your baby?s growth. One healthy advice if you are undecided whether to do paper walls or painting is to collaborate both. Try making a center wall that would be subject to your wallpaper of colorful characters, and accent it by painting the other walls with colors that would result in visual harmony.

Start shopping. This could be the most tedious part, but also the most fun. After having a theme in mind or whether to exclusively do wallpapers, painting or combination of both, start buying these things for the wall. Then proceed with the accessories. One important thing in shopping for furniture, decorations and nursery bedding for your baby nursery is to make sure the items are non toxic and are packed with safety features. Plus, they should of course match with your walls and the theme you planned. Make sure you don’t buy too much little stuff so as to crowd your nursery. When the time comes for you to put them all inside the room, it might be too late to realize that you’ve bought so much for the space you have available. Besides, small items would be eventually hazardous for your little angel as he may learn to crawl and put every little thing he sees inside his mouth.

Finally, have a major room makeover! Yes, save the best for last. After planning and shopping, now is the time to transform that lifeless room into a work of art. Start with the walls. Apply the theme you have created. If you?ve decided to paint make sure to keep the room well ventilated. Then decorate and explore your imagination.

Remember that the baby nursery will be your little angel’s haven. Take time and seriously plan on how to make that room the best place for your baby.
